KUALA LUMPUR: The Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) is holding The Heritage Colours Festival at the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station from June 26-28 as part of efforts to promote appreciation of one of Malaysia's best-known heritage buildings and encourage greater public engagement with the site.
The three-day festival, held daily from 10am to 6pm, aims to showcase the station's historical, architectural and cultural significance while reviving the surrounding area as a more inclusive and community-oriented public space.
The festival's opening day also featured the second edition of Jelajah Warisan KL, a stakeholder engagement programme that reviewed ongoing conservation and activation efforts around the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station heritage precinct.
The programme, held under the Warisan KL initiative, was officiated by Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud and attended by senior representatives from RAC, the Warisan KL secretariat, Jabatan Warisan Negara, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Think City and local community groups.
RAC said the participation of multiple stakeholders reflected a "strong collaboration and shared commitment" towards advancing heritage preservation efforts.
Participants also joined a guided tour of the railway station, which included presentations on the building's history and architecture, completed façade restoration works and plans for the next phase of conservation.
